Australian A cappella quintet
The Idea of North are an Australian a cappella vocal ensemble founded in Canberra in 1993, by Nick Begbie (tenor), Meg Corson (alto), Trish Delaney-Brown (soprano) and Andrew Piper (bass). In March 2002 Corson was replaced as alto by Naomi Crellin. Delaney-Brown was replaced on soprano in February 2007 by Sally Cameron. They won the Best Jazz Album category at the ARIA Music Awards of 2010 for Feels Like Spring (collaboration with James Morrison) and again in 2013 for Smile.

The Idea of North（アイディアオブノース）はオーストラリアのアカペラグループで、1993年にキャンベラの学生同士が集まって結成された。当初はホームパーティーなどで趣味で演奏していたが、当時オーストラリアではジャズコーラスグループが非常に少なかったこともあり、新しいジャンルを打ち立てるべくグループ活動をレギュラー化。後に、ジャズミュージシャンのJames Morrisonに認められ、彼のプロデュースの下でアルバムをリリースしたところ、オーストラリア版のグラミー賞に相当する「ARIA Award」を受賞。2010年と2013年の2度にわたり受賞した。オーストラリア国内に止まらず、世界的に活躍するアカペラボーカルグループでコーラス界での影響力は多大である。北村は2014年に韓国で開かれた国際アカペラミュージックキャンプの「Vocal Asia」にて、共に講師として現地に来ていた彼らと出会い、それがきっかけで共演をするようになった。その後は、数々のゲスト参加を経て、2018年より正式メンバーとなり現在に至る。北村はボイスパーカッション、並びにベースボーカル、リードボーカル、コーラスパートなどを担当している。

鱧人 HamojiN
A cappella Vocal Group (JAPAN)
HamojiN from Tokyo gathers some of the best and most reputable musicians in the jazz and a cappella music industry from Japan.
They are Ayumu, Daisuke, and Kotetsu, veteran professional jazz vocalists, together with Kaichiro, vocal percussion master.
This group of good drinking friends came up with the name “HamojiN”(鱧人) after their acclaimed debut in 2015, by combining the word “Harmony” and “people”(JIN) together, meaning “Harmony of people”. As described by their name, they also pursue the possibilities of improvisation in a cappella. The aim of the group is simply to “make good music”, which is definitely happening!
HamojiN is sponsored by Sound Gear company 'Oasis' in Tokyo, which provides lots of tech and idea of sound creation.
2015年、ボーカリストの矢幅歩、虎徹、伊藤大輔、ボイスパーカッショニストのKAIこと北村嘉一郎が万座温泉日新館でのロビーコンサートをきっかけに結成したアカペラグループ。屋外露天風呂で命名した「鱧人」には、「ハーモニー」と「人」をつなげる音楽でありたいとの願いが込められている。ホテルでの演奏の後、意気投合した４人がグループのレギュラー化決めて活動を始めた。メンバーそれぞれがソロの活動をする中、お互いの経験と技を合わせて、ジャズ的な即興演奏を取り入れた独自のアカペラサウンドを追求している。結成後、半年で香港ツアーを成功させたことを皮切りに、日本全国での演奏活動を展開している。年数回のツアーの他、韓国などでの海外公演も好評を博している。東京の音響会社「オアシス」がスポンサーとなり、アーティストと音響エンジニアが共同で理想のサウンドを追求している。
